Final HB Presentation!

Well this is it, our last Hugo Boss presentation has arrived. I'm quite proud of us making it to the final round. Down to the final 11 or so, from the initial 120 people in our program who signed up.

It has been a wonderful experience despite the amount of hours my group has poured into making this project look damn good. We are all sort of relieved to have it finish.
Best of luck to us tomorrow morning. We find out Thursday who has won. In order to see what we have been busy constructing, I will post the slides.

Crumb collection completed!

Finally finished this lame project.
It was kind of fun being a messy eater, even though I tried to keep it organic and not spill on purpose!
In case it isn't obvious enough, that is a lunchbox with my picture on it.

Spills + Crumbs

How long has it been? I have been neglecting this blog for some time. I have been quite busy helping Emilia with her brilliant project - collecting wishes in exchange for expertly folded paper cranes. It is a Japanese legend that if you fold 1,000 paper cranes, you get one wish that is sure to come true. Emilia is achieving this on a smaller scale - 500 cranes distributed and the last crane will be her wish for everyone elses to come true.

I went with her to hand out in Covent Garden and at Uni, meeting lots of different characters. It was certainly more exciting than doing my project. The theme of this project is "A collection." I decided to do spills and crumbs, since I am incapable of feeding myself without some falling overboard. We have also been busy preparing for our second Hugo Boss presentation, which I think went quite well. Only one more cut to go, if we make this one!

Here is what I have thus far on my craptastic crumb collection dealio. I am trying to take a scientific approach. I would have 2 boards, one with a floor plan displaying where the spill occurred, the other would be photographs of the mess and statistics. Have I accomplished this? Your thoughts? I have a long way to go, but here is what I have so far.

Floorplan with illustrations of the edible items in their state of wholeness.

Board with photos + stats, the evolution from left side (rough) to a more refined design (right).

I made a painting today, I had this idea in my head for months, so I woke up with the motivation to get on it. I have a vision for a second piece. At the pace I'm going it will be eons before I get around to doing it. It was more of a fun project because it resulted in a random mish-mash of blobs and sprays. Very messy business!

Lovely day for a picnic!

Spring has nearly arrived. The weather is getting warmer, warm enough to take a kip on the terrace and a hike up to the highest point in Hampstead Heath Park, one of Yunnie's fave spots in the city. Unfortunately, we forgot about one of the great joys of spring - mud!

Not sure why I was so drawn to this ugly mat underneath the water...

This muddy fellow's greeting left Yunnie and I a bit mucky.

Botching book design

I really dislike the short stories we have to design this 28-page book based upon. The stories were about an old lady being forcible removed from her home and dying, a blind woman who gets attacked and her head booted in, a girl killing a pet bird and the author going to a book signing and chickening out from handing over his manuscript.

Here are two of my cover ideas, which I am less than pleased about.
I went forth with the second.

The final result: Catherine, the tutor preferred the back cover and suggested I use it as the front and scrap the business at the front altogether.

Pick N Mix Part 1 - Design

I have been hard at work on our first Pick N Mix project - we chose a brief that we like the sound of between animation, interactive design, illustration, photography and design and have 2 weeks to complete it. Emilia and I did not realize it was a timely matter and there were limited spots for each brief, so we took our time deciding and ended up having to do the design brief due to immense popularity of the others. I explained the brief and my concept already on here, but alas this is the final product.

You will notice I have addressed them to a Mr. D. Johns in Aussieland.. wonder where I came up with that one...

What do you think?
