Updated quiz scenes

Again being forced to complete my work for this looming end of term presentation, I have nearly finished my "discover your future lifestyle" mock quiz. I added some extra scenes and am working on expanding the clicking choices. This is what I've changed (minus a few blassé details) thus far:

My musical travels - finito!

For the upcoming portfolio pdf hand in/presentation I just finished my musical travels guitar tablature book. Hooray for the book binding workshop!

BOOK BINDING

Today I attended an extremely useful book binding workshop.
We learned 2 different methods.
I didn't take photos during the process (it was quite busy and messy at times!)
Here are the books I made. I'm kind of proud.

I know they look a bit crap, but honestly the next book looks MUCH better!

I forgot to include my first project on this blog. It was a booklet geared towards kids to teach them about type anatomy. I went with the "treat reward system" angle. I used vegan smarties or "chocolate beans" to make letters and use as examples in the booklet. I also had a little cookie face that was being slowly eaten page by page.. I was really sick of those cookies by the end of this project! Here are some photos from the process:

A change of direction

For the last project, I wanted to get away from my traditional churning out of print pieces. I delved back into Flash and created a quiz on consumerism. I had a message in mind - we must consider the consequences of each decision we make, because of the damage we are doing to our planet.
It also correlated with the theme of my elective essay (the impact of food production on the environment). Anyway here are a some sample screenshots of a few "scenes" from my flash quiz. I have many more illustrations to do to complete it! The results page also needs an overhaul. Lots to do.

Grid Brief

I was excited to discover a brief related to music. We were issued briefs based around creating grids and the one I chose was called "R-kive your tunes."

It entailed taking your music collection and organizing them creatively into a grid.
My initial concept was bad, it essentially didn't have a grid.
After the interim crit, I knew I had to pull my game up.

I took Emilia's advice to just make a grid and figure it out from there.
I ended up with what resembled guitar tab and that's what I decided to make.
I categorized my grid by trips I went on and what I listened to on the journey - dating from 1987 until this year.

Then I split the list of artists into 6 (six strings on a guitar) and made 17 columns (frets) because anything higher up on the guitar is very difficult to play and I didn't want "songs" that sounded like scales.

I used my new Olympus DSLR (620) for the photos!
They still need work, but here is what the music ended up looking like:

This is the legend, aka the fretboard:

Photographic Evidence

For the last photography project called "Evidence" I had the concept of neglect. I really hoped to get some photographs inside an abandoned mental asylum, but it didn't pan out. I only managed to get some exterior shots of old run down buildings, some of which were being given new life. Here are the 3 shots I chose from my roll of film. Yesss I adore 35 mm.

Oh, trivial happiness!

I know it's silly, but the fact that my tomato plants are growing like mad and haven't died yet is rather thrilling. I am still waiting for the flowers, hopefully they will come soon!

Photography Summer Project. We were given a brief over the summer to document the place we spent our time. I created a barn out of the photos I took. It's crap, but some of the photos I was very pleased with.
